European Consultation on the writing of the United Nation General Comment on children in street situation

The European consultation of children / young people in street situation organized by Dynamo International in partnership with the Consortium For Street Children, took place on 18 and 19 April 2016 in Brussels, Belgium.

This consultation brought together 27 children / young people (13 young women and 14 young men) - the youngest was 13 years old - the average age was 21 years - accompanied by 20 social workers. Together, they allowed making heard the voices of children in street situations in 14 countries in Europe, namely:

Albania, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, the UK, Slovakia and Switzerland.

The report will be available soon on the website of Dynamo International. This report is extremely important because it gives a chance to children / young people in street situation to speak. He takes back their expressions and ideas. It will feed the writing of the General Comment by the experts of the UN Committee for the children’s rights.

Training in Senegal – from 11 to 15 April 2016

Over sixty participants - among them professionals, trainers and stakeholders - from ten different countries (Senegal, Chad, Gambia, Mali, Canada, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal) participated in the International Training Workshop in Social Street Work, which was held in Rufisque, Senegal from 11 to 15 April 2016.

The objectives of this training were ambitious and plural: discover the Senegalese context compared to the children in street situation and to the intervention of social workers, allow the exchange between professionals on global themes of social street work and create an informal space of meeting and sharing among all participants.

As part of the STREAT project-Erasmus+, the members of the Spanish platform DYNAMIKA went to the conferences on the street work in Sevilla, Barcelona and Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Also as part of the STREAT project-Erasmus+, Benin NGO "Espace Solidarité Globale Bénin" (ESGB / La Passerelle ) held several workshops running in March 2016; the main objective of this project being to sustainably improve the care and the support of young people in difficulty.

YouthLab project - Erasmus+ is a project that promotes the exchange of practices in the field of the activation of young people in Europe; practices in non-formal education linked to the empowerment, the development of the citizenship, the employability, etc.

Forums be organized, involving stakeholders in the field of youth, employment and training which subsequently  bring proposals and analysis on the issue of the activation of the youth and on the emancipation.

International meeting in Rufisque, Senegal from 27 June to 1 July 2016

In this year 2016, the Pilot Group of the international network of social street workers will be held in Rufisque, Senegal the week of 27 June to 1 July. It was supposed to take place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but for security reasons, the decision was finally taken to organize it in another African country.

The detailed agenda of the week will be soon sent to the members of the network who are strongly encouraged to register. During this meeting, decisive decisions about the future of the network will be taken!


Eurochild conference on 5 and 7 July 2016 in Brussels

One child on four grows up in poverty and exclusion ... although children's rights have known improvements over the history since the creation of the Convention in 1989, there is still work to do in the promotion and the respect of these human rights. Therefore, the Eurochild network organizes a conference entitled "Children's rights are important: why Europe needs to invest in youth" on 5 and 7 July 2016 at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels.
